In the players page you have listed all the players and basic information about them.
Information about them is very clear. The stars represent in a simplified way players skill in offence and defense. This was done so that the rookies can find there way easier in the beginning without going into fine details.
For a little more experienced managers there are some finer details, which you will be able to access by clicking on any one of the players. By doing this you will be able to see all of the players information and skills.
In the right upper corner you have an Overall representation of the player which is shown by the stars.
Besides Basic skills and Experience there are also Hidden skills:
Hidden skills can't be seen but rather have to be discovered or recognized trough statistics and watching the game. Hidden skills will increase as the player ages, but that will be individual for every player.
Defense This skill represent how good a player generally plays defense and represents the primary skill for defense.
Shoot This skill will allow Players that have high shooting skills to be able to score even thou they were not able to create a good position with his offensive skills. Shooting percentage for 1 point will be directly tied to this skill as will the players three point shooting ability. Players that have very high shooting skill will be hard to stop from the outside like Stephen Curry
Speed This skill will not be only tied to a players faster movement on the court but will also be tied to the quality of his movement: outside, inside, demarcation, etc.
Dribbling This skill represents the overall technique of outside players ( pint guards, shooting guards, small forwards). This means that players that have higher skill in dribbling will more easily pass their defenders trough a variety of dribbling's like crossover, euro step, trough his legs ... And will also allow them to play better actions like pick and roll and similar.
Strength Because strength plays an important role in modern basketball we added this skill to be comparable to speed for outside players only strength will be most important inside, it will be important for driving to the hoop, positioning under the rim etc.
Post Moves This skill represents the overall technique for Centers and it is comparable to dribbling for outside players.
Experience Experience is very important and it increases with the number of games the player plays. Experience gives bonuses to all other skills equally.
Rebound This skill will help a player get rebounds (both in offence and defense). It will be very important for you to discover a player that has a high Jump skill because this will help you get more offensive rebounds and also decrease your opponent's offensive rebounds.
Pass Pass represents a players ability to accurately pass the ball. A player that has high passing skill will chose good solutions in offense and help the player that is on the receiving end of the pass to get a better position for a shoot.
One of the goals of this game is for the manager to create different types of players with a combination of skills. And then to use the right type of player against the opponent in order to exploit the opponents weakness.
In this game you can create all types of players that exist in basketball, I will not reveal all of them but here are some examples:
A defensive specialist: DEF, SPE, STR Shooting guard like Miloš Teodosić: SHO, DRI, SPE Offensive Small Forward like Grant Hill: DRI, SPE, STR Strong Center like Nikola Peković: PM, STR, DEF Fake Power Forward like Dirk Nowitzki: SHO, PM, SPE
What is interesting is that Centers that play well outside will create a lot of problems for Centers that play good defense in the basket. Example: Center with good DEF and STR is defending against a Center that plays outside. When he leaves the basket to defend outside the role his STR skill had now diminishes significantly and the role his SPE skill has increases significantly.
